What Affects the Cost of a Pool Remodel?

By Aqua Aesthetics · Updated October 6, 2026

Two remodels are rarely priced the same, because the price depends on the pool and on how much you change. These are the things that move the number most.

The Size of the Pool

Surface, tile and coping are all priced by how much there is. A larger pool, or one with an attached spa, needs more material and more labor.

The Finish You Choose

Standard plaster costs the least. Quartz costs more, and pebble finishes cost the most but generally last the longest.

Tile and Coping

Replacing the tile and coping changes the look of a pool more than anything else. The material you pick, from simple tile to natural stone, has a big effect on price.

The Deck

Resurfacing an existing deck costs far less than removing it and pouring or laying a new one. Extending the deck adds to the total.

Equipment

A new variable-speed pump, filter, heater, automation or salt system adds to the cost up front. Efficient equipment lowers running costs over the years that follow.

Repairs Found Along the Way

Leaks, cracked plumbing or damage to the shell have to be fixed before a new surface goes on. In North Texas, shifting clay soil makes these more common. We look for them at the first visit so they are in the quote, not a surprise.

Added Features

A new spa, tanning ledge, water features, fire features and lighting are each priced separately. A remodel is the least expensive time to add them.

Access and Permits

A backyard that is hard to reach with equipment takes longer to work in. Some work also needs a city permit, which we handle for you.
