Mastic is the flexible sealant in the joint between your pool coping and the deck. That joint lets the deck and the pool move separately, and the mastic keeps water out of it.
When mastic cracks or pulls away, water runs in behind the pool. In North Texas, shifting clay soil and winter freezes turn that into loose coping, cracked tile and damage to the pool itself. Replacing worn mastic is one of the simplest ways to prevent a much bigger repair.
